Enstatite is a rare gemstone variety that belongs to the pyroxene group of minerals, frequently found in meteorites, enstatite is common, but good looking gemstones with transparent crystals are quite rare. It is not very used in jewelry, but this gemstones is loved by gem collectors, because its rarity. It can be found colorless with pale yellow tone, or brown color hue with some tint of green that may result in a bronze-like color.
The finest gemstones can exhibits excellent transparency, but usually they are opaque or translucent duo to its iron oxides inclusions like hematite and goethite.
Usually carved or cut into cabochon, faceted enstatite with good eye clean clarity are rare and really appreciated by gem collectors. Its hardness is similar to Apatite gemstones with a value of 5.5 on the Mohs hardness mineral scale.
